Hey Fam,
I’ve always talked to you all about going after things for yourself and that people won’t always make things happen for you…and that’s why you have to work hard and go after your dreams for yourself. The first album I ever did with Commissioned- the pink album “I’m Going On” was funded by relatives and friends with a grand total of $15,000. Now, the guys and I pitched in to raise $700.00 here and there with skating parties and thangs which helped cover studio time but the rest is history. Commissioned was birthed because we just kept making the music and somebody saw us, heard us and liked what we did.
20 years later, I still have the same work ethic. In 1998 I believe the Lord told me to do films and I immediately went out and bought me a couple of prosumer cameras and started learning more about the film business. In 2005 I had a chance to be Executive Producer on the movie “The Gospel” and I learned even more. On a recent trip to Atlanta I was able to sit-in on a taping of “Meet the Browns” out at Tyler Perry’s studios. I’ve been inspired to continue pushing through to make my motto ring true: “The Gospel Must Be Seen” (sm) So in June, I bought some HD cameras, editing equipment, designed and built the sets, bought a warehouse for our soundstage, called on some talented friends to cast the roles- some you'll know, and some you'll be glad to meet. We worked hard, had fun and we're proud of our first effort, comedy or dramedy called “Christmas Who Needs It.” We didn't have a multimillion dollar budget, but the quality is solid and it’s something birthed from my heart which allowed me a vehicle to explore the other creative sides of me and I’m excited to share it with my faithful friends and fans. I know you’ll share our excitement, applaud the effort and enjoy the work and that’s why we want to focus specifically on getting this message of hope directly into your hands. It’s a country-fried little tasty comedy that shares some of my quirky humor and like I was inspired to follow-through on my dreams…I hope our project will inspire you to follow yours. Whether you want to start your own business, open a hair shop, become an artist, start your own label, film your own independent project or start your own ministry – sometimes God won’t just bam! –make it happen overnight, but he’ll give you the contacts, resources and strength to go out and make it happen. Trust that God put those gifts in you for a reason and that He’ll bless you to walk it out. Thank you for the way you’ve always loved and supported my mission and ministry. I pray you enjoy Christmas…Who Needs It! Tell your family and friends and then holla back and let me know what you think.
Easy, FH
